Jet Ski Fishing – Big Striped Bass in Virginia 12/27
I towed my jet ski to Virginia Beach early this morning and departed Rudee Inlet at the first hint of light. I had my first fish by 0700 hrs and had caught at least nine by 0800. All fish were caught on the troll with Stretch and Mojos. They ranged in size from 36-42 inches. It was calm and glassy first thing and a steady 15-20 by the time I headed in at 0900 hrs. The fish and bait were thick from Rudee to Cape Henry, every boat I saw had a fish on. A great day! Here are some ...
Lower Owens River Fishing Report & Videos
Every season is a little different but the fall of 2011 will be one I shall remember for a while. Typically fishing begins to slow down on both the Upper and Lower O, however this fall it has done exactly the opposite. Both sections are fishing at their best right now and if you do not mind cold morning air temperatures, the fishing will warm you up as soon as you get into some of the trophy fish we have been seeing on a regular basis recently.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Roosterfish Fishing
There's something in the air in Puerto Vallarta this season amigos. As if the marlin and tuna action weren't enough, the roosters are eating the paint off the boat too!!! Lora had over 30 rooster releases on bait and poppers three days ago, and while we didn't get to 30 yesterday we sure did some damage too!!! Nothing like casting to frenzied schools of roosters with the light tackle and popping rods...too much fun!!!!
Dularge, Louisiana Redfish Slam 11/10/2011
Day one with my Texas group started out looking bad. 30+ mph winds, cold temps, and LOW LOW water is what we were faced with. Billy Myers, Ryan Jennings, and Chuck Ellis had faith in me to put them on some fish and that is what we did! Plan A - trout fishing went out the window quick as we only found one trout to make it to the icechest. Our first stop for reds had them coming into the boat one after another and the Burn Hacks started flying!! Once the bite slowed down we moved roughly 300 yards ...
Lake Konawa, Oklahoma – Largemouth Bass, Sand Bass, Channel Catfish
I finally succumb to the realization that this “lake” fishing is pretty simple…but, lake “catching” is a different animal all together. After numerous trips to Lake Konawa with subpar results, I finally swallowed my pride and sought some local knowledge. I have been in contact with local guide Shawn Morales at www.crosswindsguide.com for the last few months, and the guy has done everything but swim under the boat and hook the fish for me. So, this weekend, I left my boat on the trailer, and my son and I spent the day with Shawn on his boat. I wasn’t overly ...
